• The US FDA  announces that its panel of external vaccine advisors will meet on 17 September to discuss the application from Pfizer and BioNTech for a third booster shot of their coronavirus vaccine. Source  

• BioNTech’s CEO Ugur Sahin meets with Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Senegal’s President Macky Sall to talk about sustainable vaccine manufacturing for Africa. Source

• After months of waiting, Taiwan – which has fully vaccinated four present of its population – received 930,000 doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccine. The vaccines, which were purchased from China’s Fosun Pharma by Foxconn and TSMC through the YongLin Foundation, and by The Tzu Chi Foundation, were donated to the Taiwanese government. Source

• North Korea rejects COVAX’s offer of nearly three million doses of Sinovac’s coronavirus vaccine, saying that they may be “relocated to severely affected countries,” adding that the country would “continue to communicate with the COVAX facility to receive Covid-19 vaccines in the coming months,” according to a UNICEF spokesperson. Source
