• Gavi launches the Advance Market Commitment (AMC) for COVID-19 vaccines at the 2020 Global Vaccine Summit, a new financing mechanism for affordable vaccines in developing countries. Vaccine doses will be distributed through COVAX; self-funding countries will receive enough vaccine to cover 20 percent of their population. Developing countries will receive an equal allocation, distributed according to the WHO global allocation framework to ensure that the most vulnerable populations and health care workers are prioritized. • AstraZeneca announces a $750 million agreement with CEPI and Gavi – the first deal reached by the ACT-A, to support manufacturing, procurement and distribution of 300 million doses of AZD-1222, with delivery anticipated by the end of 2020.
