• The UK formally refers AstraZeneca’s experimental coronavirus vaccine to its Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency for assessment. Source
• In New York – an early epicenter of coronavirus infections brought under control by lockdowns, masking and other public health measures – daily cases reach 8,000, the highest since their peak in April. Source
• Spain announces a three-phase plan for rolling out coronavirus vaccines beginning with the first of 18 groups: nursing home staff and residents, followed by healthcare workers and disabled people – all of whom could be vaccinated before June 2020. The country has made deals with AstraZeneca, CureVac. Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer/ BioNTech, Sanofi/ GSK and is closing an order with NovaVax. for a total of 140 million doses, although the country’s population is 47 million.
